Journal
The Sunshine State TESOL Journal is an
international,
refereed journal
published annually by the Sunshine
State
Teachers
of
English to Speakers of Other Languages, Inc. The
main purpose of the Journal is to provide a forum for TESOL
professionals to share ideas and research on second language teaching
and learning. The Journal welcomes submissions of manuscripts based on
research projects, classroom practices, conference presentations, and
other professional activities of substance and interest to TESOL
professionals.

New Editor of the Sunshine State TESOL
Journal in 2011
Dr. Mercedes
Pichard, an experienced high school teacher of English language
learners in the School District of Lee County, takes
over as Editor of the Journal. We wish Dr. Pichard the best of luck in
her new endeavor.
Call for manuscripts
The Journal is currently
accepting manuscripts through December 31,
2010 for the 2011 issue. Any interested authors are encouraged to
review the Guidelines for Submission, Manuscript Checklist and Rubric
for Manuscript and then send in your manuscripts for review to the new
Editor, Dr. Mercedes Pichard at:

In the current
issue
This issue of the Sunshine State TESOL
Journal examines three areas of interest in the teaching of English
learners, The first, Home
Visits and ESL Teacher Candidates, discusses the benefits as well as
challenges of arranging home visits with the families of English
learners. The second article, Trends
in and Caution for Interpreting Aggregated LEP Students’ Scores on the
Florida
Comprehensive Assessment Test, addresses the need to view
standardized test data for English lanaguage learners with a critical
eye. The
third article, Integrating
Multimodal Theme-Sets Into the English-based Creole-Speaking
Classroom:Bridging Primary and Secondary Literacies, examines
the multimodal theme set as an instructional tool.
